The upcoming new version "PRINCE2 7" shows clear changes to the 6th edition. New management approaches are introduced, sustainability and data management. The additional integrated element "People" is added to the previous four elements. Sustainability becomes a new variable of project performance. And the principle and element "tailoring" becomes much more intense and specific. These are all changes to look forward to, PRINCE2 is about to get even better.
I will report in more detail on these changes in content and concept in the next few days. Now let's focus on the few changes to the certifications that come with it.
The Foundation Certificate remains the foundation and entry point for PRINCE2, there are still no prior knowledge requirements. The certification seminars will continue to be on-the-job, the exam will continue to be a multi-choice test administered online. The only change to the Foundation exam is that 60% (previously 55%) of the 60 questions must now be answered correctly to pass the exam.
As before, the Practitioner certification seminars are two-day. But here, too, 60% correct answers ot 70 questions are now required to successfully pass the exam. There are even more changes to the Practitioner Certification exam.
As before, possession of the Foundation certificate is a prerequisite for the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner certificate. Since the method has really changed, a PRINCE2 7 Foundation certificate is of course recommended. But a foundation certificate of the 6th edition is also sufficient. Attention, Foundation certificates of the 5th edition are no longer recognized! The 5th edition method is too far from the current model of PRINCE2 7.
In addition to these prerequisites, certain certificates from other methods are also accepted as a prerequisite. In terms of content, I can only advise you against adding a PRINCE2 Practitioner certificate directly to a certificate from other methods. You will fight like hell with the differences. Treat yourself to the intermediate step of a foundation seminar, you will benefit greatly from it. But here is the list of recognized certificates: Project Management Qualification (PMQ), Project Professional Qualification (PPQ), Project Management Professional (PMP)®, Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), IPMA Level A® (Certified Projects Director), IPMA Level B® (Certified Senior Project Manager), IPMA Level C® (Certified Project Manager), IPMA Level D® (Certified Project Management Associate)
Structure of the Exams
The new official PRINCE2 7 book describes four very different project scenarios, which then serve as examples of concrete practices, approaches and activities throughout the book. Various possible applications are discussed. This exemplary procedure is generally very helpful for understanding and learning the method, also for the Foundation Level. In the Practitioner exam, one of these four project scenarios is then used as the starting point for the questions. If you have prepared well, then you already know the exam scenario.
So much for the news about certification. The details of the new method "PRINCE2 7" will follow before the official start.
